Valuing carers

The latest research from Carers UK shows the value of unpaid support that carers provide has now reached £87 billion a year. This is more than the annual total spend on the NHS. Without carers our health and social care system would collapse.

The £87 billion figure is in sharp contrast to carers' incomes. Carers UK's Real change not short change report showed that three out of four people are worse off since becoming a carer.

Carers UK wants the public to understand the contribution carers make to society and get their backing for improving financial, parctical and emotional support for carers.
