Responses to government consultations

Carers UK responds to government consultations that are likely to affect carers.


Community Care (Delayed Discharges) Act 2003.

Carers UK’s response to the draft guidance from government on the Act which gives carers new rights at the point of hospital discharge. It also introduces a new system where NHS Trusts can fine a local authority if there are delays around the discharge of a patient.


Direct Payments.

Carers UK’s response to draft policy and practice guidance on Direct Payments published in 2002. Direct payments are a system where carers have receive cash instead of care from social services to buy the services they need.


Implementing reimbursement around hospital discharge.

Carers UK’s response to this consultation published in 2002 from Government on forthcoming legislation which proposed allowing NHS Trusts to fine local authorities for each day a patient is delayed from hospital.
